January

Honolulu Woodturners

A Chapter of the

American Association of Woodturners

Minutes of January 9, 2007 Meeting

The January meeting of the Honolulu Woodturners was brought to order by President Gordon Tang at the Woodcraft warehouse.

Gordon issued a welcome to everyone and introduced three new members: Steve Kearney, Carl Sherry, and Dave Howard.

Club membership fees for the 2007 year are now due. Prior to the meeting only 24 folks had paid their 2007 dues. The dues are $25 for the calendar year. At the November meeting, Sandy asked that dues be mailed to her. Sandy passed around a membership application form to those present. If you did not receive a form, mail your dues including name, address, city, zip, contact numbers and e-mail address to:

             Sandy Rhines, Treasurer

             Honolulu Woodturners

             611 North Kainalu Dr.

             Kailua, Hawaii

             96734

Make check payable to Honolulu Woodturners.

Gordon mentioned many of the benefits of belonging to the club, and the national organization. He pointed out some of the wood turning shows and events that are open to woodturners. Included were the Punahou Carnival, February 2-3; the Iolani Carnival, April 20-21; Utah Woodturning Symposium, June 21-23; American Woodturners Association (AAW), in Portland, Oregon, June 29-July 1; Nohea Woodturners Show, tentatively scheduled for August; and the Hawaii Forest Industry Show (HFIA), in September.

Gordon asked folks to make and wear nametags for the coming year. This makes things easier for everyone, particularly the visitors and newcomers.

Gordon encouraged folks to browse our website where there is a lot of information including past minutes and links for helpful information. The URL is www.honoluluwoodturners.org
